- Recapping Michigan: Andrés Pérez de Lara and the McLaren Transport team faced a challenging day in Michigan. The No. 44 truck made slight contact with the wall in practice, but Pérez de Lara was still able to run well after qualifying mid-pack. Lacking the assist of drafting help, the No. 44 was mired in traffic for most of the race. In the final run to the checkered, the Mexico City native finished the event in 19th-place.
- Driver Points Outlook: Pérez de Lara’s 19th-place finish in Michigan dropped him one position in the driver point standings to 16th-place overall. Entering San Diego, the driver is five points behind Justin Haley in 15th, and is four points ahead of Tanner Gray in 17th. In order to qualify for the Chase, Pérez de Lara needs to make up a 53-point deficit to Jake Garcia who currently holds onto the cutline spot.
- Quoting Pérez de Lara: You picked up your first top-10 of the season on the streets of St. Petersburg, so what do you need to replicate that effort this weekend?
“I’m really excited for the NASCAR San Diego event. Obviously, the fact of it being a road course, and a very technical one at that, gets me even more excited. Our sim work went well, and it’s all going to be about how quickly we can adapt. I feel like our Acceptance Chevy will be fast, and I always feel good on these types of tracks. I’m ready to go execute in practice and qualify well to get a good starting position so we can be up front most of the race.”
