- Key Takeaway: Bayley Currey and the No. 45 team were en route to a top-10 finish, but had to serve a late-race penalty which hindered their result. Currey started in 23rd, but made up ground through the opening two stages. Once in prime position late in the going, Currey clawed his way up to eighth before officials deemed that the driver committed a restart violation. Without any aid of a caution to catch the field, Currey crossed the line in 18th-place.
- Bayley Currey's Post-Race Thoughts:
“The No. 45 guys worked really hard today. We started off not how we wanted, and I think they got the truck really good. At the end there, I think we had top-five speed. Even with the penalty, the leaders had a pretty hard time catching us.
From what I think, that was just a bad call to give us a pass-through penalty. If you look at the trucks around us and in front of us, they were hanging their headlights out just like how I was. My headlight might be poked out a little bit, but it’s hard to stay exactly in line when you’re shifting through the gears and spinning the tires. I definitely did not make my move until after the splitter broke the plane at the start/finish line. I’ve gone back and watched the video a few times now, and I just feel like we got the penalty because we made some gains on the restart and others didn’t.
I hate it, I just hate it, man. This is four times now with this No. 45 group where I feel like stuff that we can’t control just ruins our day. The DQS Solutions & Staffing / J.F. Electric / Precision Vehicle Logistics Chevy was really good today. Thank you to those guys for all they do, and to Chevrolet and Niece Motorsports. We’ll go to the ROVAL and try to get a better finish there.”
