- Key Takeaway: Bayley Currey and the No. 45 team had an eventful night in Martinsville. After starting 20th, the team took advantage of track position and kept it throughout the opening stages. By using strategy calls, Currey moved into the top-five on older tires. Unfortunately, on a late-race restart, the driver was forced into the outside wall via contact from another competitor which resulted in a cut tire. Currey finished the race in the 21st position.
- Bayley Currey's Post-Race Thoughts:
“Even though we left with a terrible result, I feel like we had some really good pace tonight. We didn’t qualify the best today, but rallied from the back early. Phil [Gould] and the guys got us running as high as fourth at one point, and we hung inside the top-10 on older tires. I just hate how that turned out. We came in and took tires, and I felt like we were in a really good spot because we were rolling through the field. The bottom lane stacked up, so I went up top, and got cleaned out. That gave us a left-rear tire rub, and I had to pit under green which made us end up 21st.
Huge thanks to everyone on this No. 45 team; that was actually the most comfortable I’ve ever felt in Martinsville and one of the better pieces I’ve had here as well. These guys work hard each and every week. They deserve much better finishes than how our luck has been turning out. I also have to thank everyone at DQS Solutions & Staffing, J.F. Electric, Precision Vehicle Logistics, Team Chevy, and Niece Motorsports. Without them, I wouldn’t be out here, so I’m looking forward to ending the year on a positive note in Phoenix.”
