HOMETOWN: AUCKLAND, NZ | DOB: MAY 9, 1989

Shane van Gisbergen brings world-class pedigree and versatility to Trackhouse Racing as the driver of the No. 97 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series, and Niece Motorsports as the driver of the No. 4 Chevrolet in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. Entering the 2026 season, the Auckland, New Zealand native has already proven he can win on NASCAR’s biggest stages.

The three-time Australian V8 Supercars champion made an immediate impact, winning his NASCAR Cup Series debut at the Chicago Street Race in 2023. That victory etched him into the NASCAR history books, as he became the first driver since Johnny Rutherford in 1963 to win his first Cup Series start. In 2025, his first full-time Cup season, he delivered a historic rookie campaign with five wins, the most ever by a rookie. Van Gisbergen’s six Cup Series career victories are the most of any driver in NASCAR history not born in the United States.

After coming to America through Trackhouse’s PROJECT91 program, van Gisbergen competed as a Trackhouse development driver, full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, capturing three-wins in the 2024 season.

NASCAR success is just the latest entry in a resume that includes Supercars Championships for Triple Eight Race Engineering in 2016, 2021 and 2022, plus 80 wins and 48 pole positions making him the fourth most successful driver in series history. He also won the Bathurst 1000 in 2020, 2022 and 2023.

Van Gisbergen brings a globally proven, relentlessly competitive edge to Trackhouse every time he straps in.
