No. 4 Niece Equipment Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Conner Jones | Crew Chief: Mike Shiplett
- New Number for Jones: Conner Jones is back with Niece Motorsports for the second week in a row. Instead of racing his familiar No. 42 truck, however, Jones will get behind the wheel of the No. 4 entry led by Mike Shiplett. This pairing ran well together at Martinsville in the past, and were inside the top-10 before a late spin last fall.
- Jones’ Martinsville Stats:
NCTS Starts: 2; Best Finish: 18th (2023)
LMSC Starts: 3; Top-10s: 1; Best Finish: 6th (2026)
NWMT Starts: 1; Top-10s: 1; Best Finish: 8th (2025)
- Shiplett’s Martinsville Stats:
NCS Starts: 12; Best Finish: 12th (2010).
NOAPS Starts: 1; Best Finish: 21st (2023).
NCTS Starts: 4; Best Finish: 15th (2025).
- On the Truck: Jones’ No. 4 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with primary support from Niece Equipment, one of the country’s largest producers of fuel & lube trucks.
- Recapping Talladega: Cleetus McFarland and the Blues Hog team had their race end early due to a crash in stage one at Talladega. McFarland’s No. 4 Chevrolet qualified the highest out of the team in 24th, and was on its way forward when “the big one” struck on lap 16. As he was avoiding the crash ahead of him, contact from another competitor sent McFarland careening into the inside wall. The truck had too much damage to continue the race, and was credited with a 36th-place finish.
- Quoting Jones: You had a good finish in your sights the last time you raced a truck here, so does that build your confidence up for this weekend?
“I think it does. Mike Shiplett and I worked well together last year in the races that I ran with him, so I’m excited to work with him again on Friday. If we can put together a clean race with our Niece Equipment Chevy, that should set us up for a good finish. Hopefully we can go back there this weekend and replicate what we had here last year - just without getting wrecked.”
