Conner Jones - Slim Jim 200 Race Recap

Event: Slim Jim 200 (200 laps / 105.2 miles)
Round: 24 of 25 (Playoffs Round of 8)
Track: Martinsville Speedway
Location: Ridgeway, Virginia
Date & Time: Friday, October 24 | 6:00 PM ET

No. 41 DQS Solutions & Staffing Chevrolet Silverado RST

Driver: Conner Jones | Crew Chief: Mike Shiplett

Start: 25th | Stage 1: 18th | Stage 2: 9th

Finish: 22nd | Driver Points: 37th | Owner Points: 35th

- Key Takeaway: Conner Jones and the No. 41 team had a great run going in Martinsville, but did not get the finish they deserved. After qualifying 25th, Jones methodically advanced his position throughout the opening two stages. A great strategy call in stage two earned Jones two additional points and set him up to use fresh tires at the end of the race. Unfortunately, contact from another competitor sent him spinning late in the event and he was only able to recover to a 22nd-place finish.

- Conner Jones' Post-Race Thoughts:

It was really tough to do anything right there at the end of the race. I got put in an awkward spot there under [Ty] Majeski which made me get sandwiched in between them and I got spun by [Grant] Enfinger. But, we had a really solid night tonight; I’m proud of all these guys, I’m proud of Mike [Shiplett], my spotter, and everyone that helps put these things together and comes to the racetrack with Niece Motorsports. We sure had a heck of a DQS Solutions & Staffing Chevrolet Silverado tonight. We’ll move onto next year, and even though I’m not sure what my plans are at the moment, I’m thankful to everyone for their efforts this year.
