- On the Truck: Lewis’ No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from J.F. Electric and Utilitra, who serve as his anchor partners for the season.
- Ron Hornaday Tribute: Longtime NASCAR fans should easily recognize the paint scheme on Lewis’ No. 45 truck, which is based on Ron Hornaday’s 2007 championship-winning Camping World Silverado. Hornaday has served as a mentor to Lewis throughout his young career, and has taught him how to find success on and off the track. Both Lewis and Hornaday will hold a media availability at the track at 11:30 AM on Friday.
- Recapping Talladega: Landen Lewis and the J.F. Electric team put together an impressive race at Talladega. Lewis qualified deep in the field in 30th-place, but took a methodical approach to slice through the field early on. The No. 45 Silverado just barely missed out on capturing points in stage one in 11th, but backed it up with a sixth-place effort in stage two. In his first super speedway start, the rookie managed a clean, mistake-free run throughout the event. He crossed the finish line in sixth-place, right in the middle of a thrilling three-wide finish.
- Owner Points Outlook: Lewis’ sixth-place finish at Talladega brought the No. 45 team closer to the rest of the Chase field in the championship point standings. Scored in 10th, the team is now only 19 points behind TRICON Garage’s No. 17 team in ninth. Should Lewis put together a solid race in Martinsville, he will have a chance to close in, and overtake, his competitors.
- Quoting Lewis: You are running a special truck this week with the Ron Hornaday tribute paint scheme on it. How important has Ron been in your career?
“Ron has been a big part of my career for a long time now, and he’s always been there pushing me to make me better and understand the way I need to race people. The biggest thing he has taught me which still stays in my head is, you have to learn how to lose before you learn how to win. That’s just a very solid statement. Once you get into the top three series in NASCAR, it’s a lot harder to win than it was maybe two or three years ago. Ron has just always been there for me and pushed me to be a better person even outside the race car. I’m looking forward to seeing that moment that we’re going to get to spend with him at the race track, having some of the people who worked on that truck there, and hopefully the fans enjoy it.”
